About the Courses

Major changes are coming to the world of medical transcription with the enactment of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. These new requirements will bring heavy penalties (in fines and imprisonment) and will hold not only MT businesses accountable to the law but they will also bring new obligations to the individual MT practitioner.

ROSe recognizes the urgent need to have information available to prepare those who work in medical transcription about these new rules so they can be proactive rather than reactive to when issues occur. For this reason, a new Introductory Compliance Course in Medical Transcription will be launched September 16, 2009.

This 4-course class is designed for the practitioner MT, QA staff, MT support staff, and any personnel within a medical transcription service that handles protected health information. The course will be taught by Brenda J. Hurley, CMT, AHDI-F, a consultant and educator in the medical transcription industry. CLICK HERE for a bio of this instructor.

This Compliance Course consists of online weekly presentations, consisting of 4 medicolegal Continuing Education Credits (CECs) from the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI).

If you are enrolled and miss a class, you will be able to review a recording of the entire class session at your convenience. After you have completed the 4 classes and successfully passed its final exam, you will receive a certification of completion from ROSe. Also, this course has been awarded 4 medicolegal hours of continuing education credits by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity.
